A solemn tribute ceremony was held in memory of former Head Granthi of the Golden Temple, Giani Mohan Singh, who recently passed away in Canada. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) organized the Bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib at Gurdwara Shaheed Baba Gurbaksh Singh Ji, located within the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar.
Prominent personalities, including SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami, Additional Head Granthi Giani Amarjit Singh, renowned Kathavachak Bhai Pinderpal Singh, and senior Akali leader Maheshinder Singh Grewal, were present along with family members and Sikh devotees.
Following the Bhog ceremony, kirtan was performed by Hazoori Ragi Bhai Satnam Singh Kuharka’s jatha. The Ardas was offered by Giani Baljit Singh, while the Hukamnama was recited by Giani Amarjit Singh.
Addressing the gathering, SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami said that Giani Mohan Singh devoted many years of dedicated service at Golden Temple, inspiring the Sikh Sangat to stay connected with Gurbani. He emphasized that the unity of words and conduct in a Sikh’s life is a blessing of the Guru, a virtue clearly reflected in Giani Mohan Singh’s life.
Dhami also announced that Giani Mohan Singh’s portrait will be installed at the Central Sikh Museum and that a booklet highlighting his life and services will be published. The responsibility of writing the booklet has been entrusted to Bhai Pinderpal Singh.
During the ceremony, Bhai Pinderpal Singh recalled the invaluable services rendered by Giani Mohan Singh, especially during the tragic events of June 1984, when he upheld the sanctity and traditions of the Guru’s house.
In a touching gesture, Giani Mohan Singh’s wife, Bibi Surjit Kaur, and his son, Tarlochan Singh, handed over the keys of their residence—dedicated in the name of Sri Darbar Sahib—to SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami and the Temple management. The family members were honored with Guru’s Siropaos by SGPC officials.
Several SGPC members, religious leaders, officials, and prominent personalities were also present to pay their respects.
