Akali Leader’s Daughter Kanchanpreet Kaur Granted Anticipatory Bail by High Court

In a major relief, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has granted anticipatory bail to Kanchanpreet Kaur, daughter of a senior Akali leader, in two cases registered during the Tarn Taran by-election.

The court approved her anticipatory bail in FIR No. 261 and FIR No. 240, both of which were lodged during the election period when her mother, Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa, contested the Tarn Taran bypoll as a candidate of the Shiromani Akali Dal.

Government’s Stand in Court

During the hearing of FIR No. 261, the state government informed the High Court that it does not intend to arrest Kanchanpreet Kaur in the matter. This statement provided significant relief to the petitioner.

With the latest order, it is now clear that Kanchanpreet Kaur is on bail in all FIRs registered against her during the election period.

Legal Representation

Kanchanpreet Kaur was represented before the High Court by Advocate Arshdeep Singh Kler and Advocate Damanbir Singh Sobti.

The development comes amid heightened political tensions during the Tarn Taran by-election, where multiple FIRs were reportedly filed in connection with poll-related incidents.
