AIPNA-ICP 2026 Pathology Conference in Amritsar

The AIPNA-ICP 2026 International Pathology Conference commenced today at Government Medical College Amritsar, marking a significant milestone in global medical collaboration. The three-day international conference was inaugurated by Punjab’s Health and Family Welfare, Medical Education and Research Minister, Balbir Singh.

Organized under the leadership of the Association of Indian Pathologists in North America (AIPNA) and the Indian College of Pathologists (ICP), the conference has brought together leading pathologists, medical educators, researchers, and healthcare professionals from across the globe.

Addressing the inaugural session, Dr. Balbir Singh stated that hosting such a prestigious conference in Amritsar would significantly contribute to the advancement of new research and cutting-edge diagnostic technologies in the field of pathology. He emphasized that the platform aims to promote international collaboration, innovative diagnostic methods, and transformative academic practices.

The Minister also highlighted the Punjab Government’s healthcare initiatives, including infrastructure upgrades in public hospitals, deployment of advanced medical equipment, recruitment of specialist doctors, and the expansion of free healthcare services through Aam Aadmi Clinics. He further mentioned the launch of the Chief Minister Health Scheme, which provides free annual treatment coverage of up to ₹10 lakh per family.

During the opening ceremony, Director of Medical Education and Research Punjab, Dr. Avnish Kumar, noted that the conference celebrates scientific excellence while reflecting Amritsar’s rich heritage and cultural vibrancy. He encouraged the integration of emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence, into pathology practices.

Renowned experts from the United States and other countries are participating in the event. Dr. Vinay Kumar, formerly associated with Government Medical College Amritsar, joined virtually from Chicago to share his research insights in pathology.

Professor Dr. Parmjit Kaur Bagga, Head of the Department of Pathology, welcomed the delegates with an inspiring address, underlining the foundational role of pathology in modern medicine and the importance of blending academic learning with real-world clinical applications.

The three-day conference features plenary lectures, interactive workshops, poster presentations, and panel discussions covering molecular pathology, hematology, onco-pathology, laboratory medicine, medical education, and visual communication in diagnostics.

The organizing committee reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening international partnerships, advancing patient care, and inspiring the next generation of pathologists.

Civil Surgeon Amritsar Dr. Satinder Singh Bajaj, along with faculty members, officials, and research scholars of Government Medical College Amritsar, were also present at the event.
