A controversy has erupted after an AI-generated video allegedly depicting disrespectful visuals at Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar went viral on social media.
The video reportedly shows a skeleton wearing a turban and shoes while moving inside the parikrama and langar hall of the Golden Temple. The visuals have triggered widespread anger among Sikh organizations and devotees.
Reacting strongly, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee condemned the incident. SGPC member Gurcharan Singh Grewal termed the act highly objectionable and said it has hurt Sikh religious sentiments.
He stated that creating such content using Artificial Intelligence is completely unacceptable and called for strict action against those responsible. He also urged the government and concerned agencies to investigate the matter thoroughly.
Following the video’s circulation, social media platforms have seen strong reactions, with many users terming it an act of religious disrespect and demanding strict legal action.
Several Sikh groups have also emphasized the need for regulations to prevent misuse of AI technology in depicting religious places in an offensive or misleading manner.
The incident has once again raised concerns over the misuse of AI-generated content and its potential to trigger religious sensitivities.
