Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh chaired the “Mantri Aapke Dwar” program in Mandyalu village near Basantpur in the Shimla Rural Assembly constituency, addressing public grievances directly at the grassroots level.
During the outreach event, villagers from Gram Panchayat Mandyalu and nearby areas presented their concerns and demands. With the support of officials from various departments, the minister ensured on-the-spot resolution of 17 issues, reinforcing the government’s commitment to responsive governance.
Extending congratulations on the formation of the new Mandyalu Panchayat, Singh said that the long-pending demand of the local residents has finally been fulfilled. He emphasized that Panchayat buildings serve as the backbone of rural development, acting as central hubs for planning and implementing development schemes.
The minister highlighted that the state government is focused on strengthening Panchayats by upgrading old buildings with modern facilities and constructing new ones with uniform design and adequate funding. He urged residents to identify suitable land for the construction of a new Panchayat building in the newly formed Panchayat.
Reiterating the government’s commitment, Singh said that the development of every Panchayat remains a top priority. He encouraged villagers to openly present their issues under the “Mantri Aapke Dwar” initiative, which aims to deliver governance at people’s doorsteps.
Sharing key development updates, Singh stated that the Badmen–Basantpur road has been completed at a cost of ₹6.84 lakh, with additional funds allocated for repairs due to monsoon damage. He also announced that a polytechnic college is under construction in Madukhar, Basantpur, with an estimated budget of ₹50.5 crore.
Additionally, a large sports ground is being developed in Madukhar to promote sports activities among youth, while a modern library near Hanuman Temple in Sunni is under construction with a budget of ₹2.35 crore to support students preparing for competitive exams.
Over the past three years, ₹16 lakh has been sanctioned for various development works in Basantpur Panchayat. Singh further assured that budget provisions will be made for the Mandyalu–Maten road, transformer upgrades to improve electricity supply, and the expansion of the existing irrigation scheme in the area.
The event witnessed the presence of several local leaders, officials, and a large number of villagers, who welcomed the minister and expressed gratitude for the formation of the new Panchayat and ongoing development initiatives.
