BJP Stages Protest in Banjar, Targets Govt Over Road Woes, PMGSY Delays and Transport Crisis

BJP Protests in Banjar Over Roads, Transport Issues

Kullu: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Banjar Mandal organized a large workers’ conference today at the Banjar headquarters, where party workers turned out in large numbers to show unity and reaffirm their commitment to public issues.

After the conference, BJP workers staged a strong protest against the Indian National Congress-led government in Himachal Pradesh. The demonstration was led by Banjar MLA Surender Shourie, who highlighted several pressing issues affecting the region.

Shourie said the Banjar constituency is facing a severe road crisis. He pointed out that daily traffic jams on National Highway 305, along with incomplete repairs and slow construction work, have made commuting difficult for residents. He added that the highway has become more of a burden than a convenience for locals.

The MLA further said that many bus routes in the area are either shut down or completely suspended, creating hardships for rural residents, students, and employees. Public transport has deteriorated badly, yet the government has taken no effective steps to improve the situation.

He also criticized the government for halting work on all four roads approved under Stage-III of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). He alleged that while the government is eager to take credit for projects, it has failed to ensure progress on the ground.

According to Shourie, no major development work has been initiated in the Banjar constituency over the last three years, leaving the region behind in terms of development. He also raised concerns about the long-delayed opening of a completed parking facility in Banjar, alleging that political considerations are delaying its inauguration.

He warned that BJP workers will continue to raise their voice for the people, and if the government does not address these issues soon, the agitation will be intensified.

A large number of BJP office bearers, workers, and local residents participated in the protest and expressed their anger against the government.
