Una: A major infrastructure project is underway over Govind Sagar Lake, where an 860-meter-long bridge is being constructed at a cost of ₹981 crore between Lathiani and Mandli. The bridge is expected to transform connectivity across the region and significantly reduce travel time.
Once completed, the distance between Una and Hamirpur will be reduced by approximately 22 km, saving both time and fuel for commuters. Land acquisition for the project has been completed, and compensation has been distributed to most affected farmers, enabling construction to move ahead rapidly.
Joginder Sharma said the government and administration are committed to completing the project within the stipulated timeframe. He emphasized that the bridge will improve transportation and give a major boost to local trade, tourism, and economic activities.
Local leader Joginder Dev Arya noted that the bridge will directly benefit thousands of residents across Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, and Mandi districts. He added that families displaced due to the Bhakra Dam project will particularly benefit, as the bridge will ease their long-standing travel challenges.
Former Kutlehar MLA Davinder Bhutto said the bridge will reduce dependence on longer routes, lower fuel consumption, and provide farmers, traders, and small businesses with better access to markets. The project is also expected to boost tourism and create new employment opportunities across the region.
