AAP Leader Kuldeep Dhaliwal Slams Bajwa Over “Sangrur Soil” Remark

Dhaliwal Attacks Bajwa Over Controversial Sangrur Remark

Chandigarh: Political tensions have escalated once again in Punjab after Aam Aadmi Party leader and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal strongly reacted to a controversial remark made by Opposition Leader Partap Singh Bajwa.

The controversy began after Bajwa reportedly referred to Sangrur as a “soil that produces insects,” triggering widespread political outrage across the state.

Addressing a press conference, Dhaliwal condemned the statement, calling it a reflection of a “low mindset” and ignorance about Punjab’s rich historical legacy. He said Bajwa should have understood the historical significance of Sangrur before making such remarks.

Dhaliwal highlighted that Sangrur has been the birthplace of great freedom fighters like Udham Singh and Sewa Singh Thikriwala. He also pointed to its connection with movements such as the Namdhari and Kuka revolutions, saying the land holds deep revolutionary importance.

Calling the remark “deeply insulting,” he questioned whether Congress leaders present at the event supported the statement or remained silent. He also criticized former ministers for not reacting to the issue.

Launching a broader attack on the Congress party, Dhaliwal alleged that Congress policies have historically caused damage to Punjab and the country. He referred to past political events, claiming the party has repeatedly pushed the state into crises.

Dhaliwal also described the Aam Aadmi Party as a political movement emerging from the “revolutionary soil” of Sangrur, claiming that public support for the party continues to grow ahead of upcoming elections.

He concluded by demanding an unconditional apology from Bajwa, stating that such remarks are unacceptable and disrespectful to Punjab’s cultural and historical identity.
