Governor Opens Psychology Conference 2026 in Noida

Greater Noida: Governor Kavinder Gupta inaugurated the 51st National Clinical Psychology Conference (NACIACP-2026) at Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida, emphasizing the growing role of artificial intelligence in mental health care.

The Governor attended the event as the Chief Guest, while the conference was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Professor Rana P. Singh. The central theme of the conference was “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Mental Health.”

Addressing the gathering, the Governor stated that artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to make mental health services more accessible, effective, and personalized. He highlighted that AI can help ensure timely assistance and treatment for individuals in need.

He further noted that the use of AI in medical science has enhanced the speed, accuracy, and efficiency of disease diagnosis and treatment. In today’s fast-paced society, issues like stress, depression, anxiety, and other psychological disorders are rising rapidly, affecting people across all sections.

Kavinder Gupta pointed out that several digital platforms and applications have already been developed that can identify early signs of mental health issues based on an individual’s emotions, behavior, and language patterns. These technologies are expected to become even more effective in the future.

He also mentioned initiatives by the Government of India, such as the Tele-MANAS program, which aims to provide mental health services to remote and underserved areas. He emphasized that mental health is not just a medical issue but also a matter of social sensitivity and collective responsibility.

The Governor stressed the need to integrate mental health services more effectively with existing healthcare schemes to ensure timely treatment for all. He also called for widespread awareness campaigns to eliminate social stigma associated with mental health.

Highlighting the use of AI in neurofeedback, brain imaging, and data analysis, he said these advancements are helping in better understanding mental disorders and developing new treatments. However, he cautioned that AI cannot replace human empathy, compassion, and personal connection, which are essential in mental healthcare.

He also emphasized the importance of addressing concerns related to data privacy, ethics, and security while adopting AI-based solutions.

Earlier, Conference Coordinator and Head of the Department of Psychology and Mental Health, Dr. Anand P. Singh, welcomed the Governor. Vice-Chancellor Professor Rana P. Singh provided detailed insights into the conference.

Several experts, including Professor Madhav Govind, Gauri Shankar Kaloia, Asha Srivastava, Dr. Nishi Mishra, and Dr. Alok Mishra, also shared their views during the event.

Former President and founding member of the Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists, Dr. Manoranjan Sahay, highlighted the importance of the conference.

The Governor also felicitated participants during the event.
