Chandigarh: In a significant anti-corruption operation, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested PRTC conductor Narinder Singh alias Laddi from the Bathinda depot for demanding a ₹20,000 bribe.
According to officials, the arrest was made following a complaint filed by a local resident from Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda district, who works as a driver at the same depot and sought a change in his bus route.
The complaint stated that Narinder Singh and fitter in-charge Kewal Krishan (Bus Stand, Goniana) demanded ₹20,000 in exchange for altering the bus route. During the process, the complainant recorded the entire conversation, which later became crucial evidence in the vigilance investigation.
The operation highlights Punjab Vigilance Bureau’s commitment to curbing corruption and ensuring accountability among public transport staff.
