Chandigarh: Punjab has achieved a record revenue collection of ₹11,782 crore for the financial year 2025-26, marking a significant milestone in the state’s fiscal management. Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema announced this achievement, highlighting the efficiency of the state’s excise and taxation departments under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership.
Record Revenue Collection Surpasses Target
The department had set a revised target of ₹11,200 crore, but actual collection exceeded expectations by ₹582 crore, demonstrating strong fiscal discipline and administrative efficiency. The Finance Minister noted that in the last four years, excise revenue has nearly doubled, rising from ₹6,254.84 crore to ₹11,782 crore, reflecting the impact of transparent policies and business-friendly measures.
Ambitious Targets for FY 2026-27
Looking ahead, the Punjab government has set a new revenue target of ₹12,800 crore for FY 2026-27. The excise license fees are also expected to see a significant increase, with a target of ₹10,520 crore for the coming year, up from ₹9,877 crore in FY 2025-26.
Strengthening Trade and Compliance
Finance Minister Cheema emphasized that all 207 retail liquor groups in Punjab have been successfully allotted licenses, highlighting trust in the state’s excise policies and ensuring commercial stability. He added that the government continues to prioritize regulatory compliance and transparency, with robust enforcement, improved monitoring systems, and strategic policies to maintain growth momentum.
