Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Announces ₹516 Crore Development Projects in Hoshiarpur, Focuses on Healthcare and Infrastructure

Bhagwant Mann Launches ₹516 Cr Projects in Hoshiarpur

Hoshiarpur: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann unveiled a series of major development initiatives worth ₹516 crore in Hoshiarpur, signaling a renewed push toward infrastructure growth and improved public services in the state.

Addressing a state-level event in the Sham Chaurasi constituency, the Chief Minister emphasized that the government is now focused on delivering measurable results at the grassroots level.

Medical College to Strengthen Healthcare and Education

One of the biggest announcements was the establishment of the Shaheed Udham Singh State Institute of Medical Sciences. The Chief Minister stated that the medical college will be completed within two years and will produce 100 MBBS doctors annually, strengthening both healthcare services and medical education in Punjab.

Alongside the college, a 300-bed modern hospital will also be developed, equipped with advanced facilities including MRI, CT scan services, OPD units, and specialized healthcare departments. The hospital is expected to significantly improve access to quality medical treatment for residents.

Expansion of Local Healthcare Facilities

To strengthen healthcare delivery at the grassroots level, Mann laid the foundation stone for a 30-bed Community Health Centre in Sham Chaurasi, which will benefit more than 40 villages directly.

Additionally, the government announced the construction of seven new Health and Wellness Centres in the constituency to ensure accessible treatment closer to people’s homes.

Major Road Connectivity Project

The Chief Minister also launched the ₹99 crore Balachaur–Garhshankar–Hoshiarpur–Dasuya road project, a 105-kilometre corridor aimed at improving connectivity between Chandigarh and Jammu & Kashmir.

The project is expected to reduce travel time, ease transportation, and benefit religious tourism by providing smoother travel routes for pilgrims.

Political Remarks and Governance Claims

During the event, Mann criticized opposition parties, stating that traditional political groups had slowed Punjab’s progress over the past decades. He claimed that his government has accelerated development over the last four years and is implementing election promises on the ground for the first time.

He accused both the Shiromani Akali Dal and the Congress of focusing on power politics, while asserting that the current administration is prioritizing public welfare through reforms in education, healthcare, electricity, and employment sectors.

Health Schemes and Social Welfare Plans

Highlighting welfare initiatives, Mann announced that 65 lakh families are being issued health cards providing free medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh.

He also revealed that financial assistance for women under the “Maa Dhiyaan Satkar Yojana” will be implemented soon to strengthen social security measures.

Vision for ‘Rangla Punjab’

Concluding the event, the Chief Minister said every government decision aims to ensure public funds are spent for public benefit, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to transforming Punjab into a prosperous and vibrant “Rangla Punjab.”
