Chandigarh: Showcasing Punjab’s growing dominance in defence education and military preparation, the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (MRSAFPI) has achieved another national milestone. Cadet Jasnoor Singh from the institute’s 10th course has secured All-India Rank 1 in the Combined Defence Services (CDS) Air Force merit list.
Jasnoor Singh, son of a businessman from Pathankot, will now proceed to the Air Force Academy in Hyderabad for pre-flying training, marking a significant step toward joining the Indian Air Force as an officer.
With this achievement, the institute has secured the national top rank for the fifth time and the third such honour in the past two years. The accomplishment reflects the Punjab government’s continued efforts under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to support youth aspiring to serve in the armed forces.
In another major success, Cadet Sukhraj Singh Hira from Ropar secured the fourth All-India Rank and will join the 161st course at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, scheduled to begin in June 2026.
Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Minister Aman Arora congratulated both cadets, stating that their achievement marks the beginning of their journey toward becoming future officers of India’s defence forces. He added that Punjab takes immense pride in the accomplishments of its talented youth.
Institute Director Major General (Retd.) Ajay H. Chauhan, VSM, also congratulated the cadets for bringing laurels to the institute and the state. He expressed optimism about continued success and said the institute is eagerly awaiting the NDA-156 merit list, expecting another strong performance.
The achievement further strengthens Punjab’s reputation as a leading contributor to India’s armed forces through structured military preparatory education.
