Anant Ambani Donates ₹6 Crore to Kerala Temples, Announces Animal Welfare Initiatives

Anant Ambani Donates ₹6 Crore to Kerala Temples

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) Executive Director Anant Ambani announced major donations and welfare initiatives during his visit to two prominent religious sites in Kerala — Rajarajeshwaram Temple and Guruvayur Temple.

During the visit, Anant Ambani donated a total of ₹6 crore to the two temples and additionally pledged ₹12 crore for the large-scale renovation of the historic Rajarajeshwaram Temple.

At the ancient Rajarajeshwaram Temple located in Taliparamba town of Kannur district, Ambani contributed ₹3 crore and committed an additional ₹12 crore for redevelopment works. The renovation project includes reconstruction of the temple’s historic eastern gopuram, which has remained in a deteriorated condition for years. Plans also involve improving infrastructure and parking facilities to enhance convenience for devotees.

He later visited the renowned Guruvayur Temple in Thrissur district, where he offered prayers and donated ₹3 crore to the temple trust. During the visit, Ambani also announced support for the welfare of temple elephants, which are closely linked to traditional rituals.

The initiative includes plans to establish a dedicated elephant hospital, chain-free shelters, and modern care facilities aimed at ensuring humane and scientific treatment of the animals. The effort is considered part of Ambani’s broader wildlife conservation initiative, Vantara, focused on animal rescue and welfare.

Temple authorities welcomed Anant Ambani with traditional honors upon his arrival. Officials of both Devaswom Boards and temple priests were present during the ceremonies.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambani said that India’s spiritual traditions are not merely places of worship but living institutions that connect society, nature, and compassion. He emphasized that preserving this heritage for future generations is a collective responsibility.

He added that through these initiatives and ongoing efforts under the Vantara project, the aim is to serve society while improving devotees’ experiences and ensuring respectful, compassionate, and scientifically guided care for animals that form an integral part of cultural traditions.
