Shimla Sunni Murder Case: Final Accused Arrested

In a major breakthrough, Shimla Police have successfully solved the sensational Sunni murder case by arresting the third and final accused involved in the crime. With this arrest, all individuals linked to the murder have now been taken into custody.

The case was registered as FIR No. 12/26 dated March 20, 2026, at Sunni Police Station in Shimla district under Sections 140(1), 103, 238, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Final Accused Arrested from Uttar Pradesh

According to police officials, the last accused, Mahesh Kumar Chauhan (31), a resident of Kushinagar district in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested by a Shimla Police team following a coordinated interstate operation.

The accused had been absconding since the incident and frequently changed locations to evade arrest. Police stated that even his associates were unaware of his permanent hideout, making the operation challenging.

Using technical surveillance and precise intelligence inputs, Shimla Police, with assistance from local authorities, successfully traced and apprehended the accused in Kushinagar. He will be produced before a local court for transit remand before being brought to Shimla for further legal proceedings.

Earlier Arrests in the Case

Earlier, police had arrested two other accused in connection with the murder:

  • Arun Kumar Ram (31) from East Champaran district, Bihar, arrested on March 25, 2026, from Muzaffarnagar (Bihar).
  • Bikesh Kumar (31), also from East Champaran (Motihari), Bihar, arrested on March 28, 2026, near the Nepal border.

Both accused were presented before the court and are currently lodged in judicial custody at Kaithu Jail in Shimla.

Murder Planned by All Three Accused

Investigations revealed that all three accused jointly planned and executed the murder. With the arrest of the final suspect, police officials described the case as fully solved, calling it a significant achievement that has strengthened public confidence in law enforcement and maintained law and order in the region.
