Punjab Police Arrest Two Key Accused in Chandigarh Grenade Attack, Foreign Handlers Exposed

Two Arrested in Chandigarh Grenade Attack Case

Punjab Police has achieved a major breakthrough in the Chandigarh grenade attack case during its ongoing campaign to strengthen security across the state. The Counter Intelligence Wing, in a joint operation with Chandigarh Police and with assistance from Haryana Police, arrested two key accused from Rewari in Haryana.

Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav identified the arrested individuals as Gurtej Singh and Amanpreet Singh, residents of Ratangarh in Rupnagar district. According to the DGP, Amanpreet Singh has a prior criminal record, with cases of theft and robbery already registered against him.

The arrests came a day after police had detained five other suspects involved in the case. With the latest development, all seven accused linked to the conspiracy are now in police custody, providing a significant lead to investigators.

During the investigation, police discovered that the attack was not an isolated incident but part of a larger conspiracy operated by foreign-based handlers. Officials revealed that Baljot Singh alias Jot, allegedly supported by Pakistan’s ISI and operating from Portugal, along with Germany-based Harjeet Singh Ladi, had allegedly lured the accused with a reward of ₹2 lakh to carry out the attack.

Punjab Police stated that further investigations are underway to uncover the broader network and prevent similar security threats in the future.
