Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has taken strict action against alleged negligence in controlling drug-related activities in Bathinda district. The action came after a village sarpanch raised a complaint during a party meeting regarding the ineffective handling of drug prevention measures in the area.
Taking serious note of the complaint, the Chief Minister ordered the transfer of the entire staff posted at the Kot Shamir police post.
Acting on the Chief Minister’s directions, Bathinda Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Harjeet Singh transferred 11 police personnel, including the police post in-charge, to Mansa district. The transferred staff includes three Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), four senior constables, one constable, and three Home Guard personnel.
In addition to the transfers, departmental inquiry orders have also been issued against the Station House Officer (SHO) of Bathinda Sadar police station.
The move is being seen as a strong signal from the Punjab government emphasizing accountability and strict enforcement in the ongoing fight against drug-related crimes across the state.
