Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri reviewed the progress of developmental schemes of the Jal Shakti Department in Una district and directed officials to accelerate work on under-construction projects to ensure timely delivery of drinking water and irrigation facilities to residents.
During the review meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister stated that drinking water and irrigation projects worth nearly ₹1000 crore are currently underway in the district. These include approximately ₹550–600 crore worth of drinking water schemes and ₹350–400 crore irrigation projects.
He instructed officials to prioritize pending schemes and complete them at the earliest while ensuring timely preparation of necessary proposals. Agnihotri also directed authorities to expedite the ₹175 crore Bhabaur Sahib–Polian Beed drinking water scheme.
Providing progress details, he said that 233 drinking water schemes had been completed in the district by March 2026, while work on 54 schemes is ongoing. Additionally, 595 irrigation projects have been completed, benefiting around 18,796 hectares of agricultural land, with 67 projects currently under construction.
The Deputy Chief Minister informed that a total of 3,266 hand pumps have been installed across the district so far. Alongside this, seven sewerage projects are also progressing to strengthen sanitation infrastructure.
Reviewing Asian Development Bank (ADB)-supported projects, he said that seven out of 19 schemes have been completed and directed officials to expedite the remaining works. He also instructed authorities to prioritize the completion of the Santoshgarh sewerage project, being developed at a cost of ₹22.74 crore, to improve sanitation facilities in the region.
To strengthen water management, Agnihotri noted that nearly 600 tube wells are operational across different assembly constituencies in the district. Tube wells requiring repair or reconstruction will undergo remodeling through a consolidated Detailed Project Report (DPR).
He added that all tube wells are being re-numbered and updated constituency-wise data is being prepared to ensure scientific and systematic management aligned with present requirements.
Senior officials, including Chief Engineer Jal Shakti Anju Sharma, Chief Engineer Projects Dharmendra Gill, Chief Engineer Rohit Dubey, Superintending Engineer Naresh Dhiman, and engineers of Jal Shakti Circle Una, were present during the meeting.
