Three former students of Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, have brought pride to their alma mater by achieving remarkable success in the prestigious Scientist ‘B’ (Forestry) examination conducted by the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), Dehradun.
The examination, held in January, announced its results earlier this week, with the university’s alumni securing three out of the four available positions — a significant achievement in one of the most competitive forestry examinations in India.
The successful candidates include Jatin Kumar, Uday Kumar Lodh, and Deepshikha Singh, all former students of the Department of Silviculture and Agroforestry under the College of Forestry.
Jatin Kumar, a resident of Dharampur in Solan district, secured the first rank in the forestry subject. He completed his Ph.D. in Agroforestry in 2024 under the guidance of Dr. D.R. Bhardwaj, graduating with an outstanding OGPA of 8.96 out of 10 and topping his department.
Uday Kumar Lodh, hailing from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, completed his Ph.D. in Forestry in 2023 under the supervision of Dr. C.L. Thakur, achieving an OGPA of 8.18 out of 10.
Deepshikha Singh, a resident of Bhagalpur, Bihar, completed her M.Sc. in Forestry in 2022 under the guidance of Dr. D.R. Bhardwaj, securing an OGPA of 8.37 out of 10.
Their success in one of the country’s toughest forestry recruitment examinations reflects their dedication, perseverance, and academic excellence. It also highlights the university’s strong academic environment, quality education, and effective research mentorship.
Students from the Silviculture and Agroforestry Department have consistently secured top ranks in national-level competitive examinations, reinforcing the institution’s reputation for excellence in forestry education and research.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel congratulated the students, calling the achievement a proud moment for the university. He stated that the success is the result of the hard work of both the students and their mentors and expressed confidence that the young scientists will make meaningful contributions to India’s forestry sector.
Dean of the College of Forestry Dr. C.L. Thakur and faculty members of the Department of Silviculture and Agroforestry also congratulated the students and wished them success in their future careers.
