Thiruvananthapuram: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said that Indian Navy ships are assisting Indian oil tankers in safely navigating the sensitive Strait of Hormuz amid rising tensions in West Asia. He added that the government is closely monitoring developments in the region to safeguard national interests.
Speaking at a Sainik Samman Sammelan in poll-bound Kerala, Singh reassured citizens that there is no shortage of fuel or cooking gas in the country. He stated that India remains fully prepared to handle any potential disruption in energy supplies caused by geopolitical instability in the Gulf region.
The Defence Minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is actively engaging through diplomatic channels to ensure the protection of India’s economic and strategic interests in West Asia, particularly concerning energy security and maritime trade routes.
Highlighting the government’s preparedness, Singh emphasized that necessary measures have already been taken to maintain uninterrupted supply chains and stabilize domestic energy availability.
During his address, Singh also appealed to voters to support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections, asserting that the party can bring positive transformation to the state. Referring to the party’s commitments as “Modiyude guarantees,” he underlined the reliability of Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
He described Modi’s leadership as “24-carat gold,” saying it has consistently demonstrated strength and stability over time.
