A grand rally under the “Youth Against Drugs” campaign was held today by the District Legal Services Authority in Amritsar, starting from the district courts and culminating at Surup Rani Government College. Hundreds of students, joined by the District and Sessions Judge, Deputy Commissioner, Police Commissioner, SSP (Rural), and other officials, marched with anti-drug slogans to raise awareness among youth and foster a drug-free society.

The procession aimed to educate young people on staying away from narcotics and creating an anti-drug atmosphere in the community. School and college students participated in large numbers, chanting slogans against drugs and spreading awareness messages. Following the rally, a seminar was conducted in the college auditorium, discussing the severe impacts of drug abuse in detail.

District and Sessions Judge Amarjeet Singh Bains praised the initiative, noting it operates under the guidance of Punjab and Haryana High Court Judge and Punjab State Legal Services Authority Executive Chairman Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra, along with District Sessions Judge Jatinder Kaur. He likened drugs to a wildfire spreading across Punjab, emphasizing collective responsibility to stop it, and highlighted the spontaneous gathering of hundreds of youth as proof of society’s readiness to fight back.
Deputy Commissioner Dalwinderjit Singh stressed the joint efforts of the judiciary, police, and civil administration in organizing the event. He appealed to youth to avoid drugs personally and educate others, paving the way for a prosperous and healthy society. Participating students received appreciation certificates from the Judge as recognition of their involvement.
