The PET 870 (Physical Education Teacher) recruitment process in Himachal Pradesh once again appears to be slowing down, raising concerns among job aspirants waiting for appointments for several years.
Dr. Ramesh Rajput, State President of the Unemployed Physical Welfare Organization, said after seeking information from the Secretariat and the Education Department in Shimla that the required records from various districts have not yet been submitted.
According to Rajput, the Education Department had issued instructions on March 19 directing Deputy Directors of all districts to submit necessary documents and data within five days. However, despite the deadline passing, the department has allegedly not shown sufficient seriousness in completing the process.
He stated that frustration is growing among candidates who have been waiting for recruitment for nearly eight to nine years. The continued delay has not only affected unemployed youth but has also impacted sports activities in schools, thereby affecting the overall development of students.
Rajput appealed to district officials to complete the pending formalities at the earliest and announce the counseling schedule. He also urged Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Education Minister Rohit Thakur to fulfill their commitment of completing the recruitment process before the upcoming panchayat elections to provide relief to aspiring candidates.
The organization warned that if prompt action is not taken, the recruitment process may face further delays, which could negatively impact both unemployed youth and the state’s education system.
