Amid escalating global tensions in West Asia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a crucial high-level meeting with all chief ministers on Friday to review India’s preparedness and response strategy.
Addressing the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for coordinated action under the spirit of “Team India” to effectively tackle the evolving global crisis. The government’s immediate focus, he said, is to safeguard economic stability while strengthening supply chains and ensuring uninterrupted availability of essential commodities.
PM Modi issued strict directives to states to take strong action against hoarders and profiteers attempting to exploit the situation. He stressed that there must be no shortage of essential goods in markets and warned that authorities should act swiftly against any attempts to create artificial scarcity.
Special emphasis was placed on advance planning in the agriculture sector. Border and coastal states have been placed on high alert, with instructions to closely monitor shipping routes and critical supply networks to maintain uninterrupted logistics operations.
During the meeting, several chief ministers appreciated the Centre’s proactive measures to manage the situation. Decisions such as reducing excise duty on petrol and diesel and increasing LPG allocations were widely welcomed, with states noting that these steps would provide relief to citizens.
The Prime Minister highlighted that protecting India’s economy and trade remains the government’s top priority. He underlined the importance of energy security and called for strong coordination mechanisms between the Centre and states to respond quickly to emerging challenges.
The meeting also focused on agricultural preparedness, with states directed to begin advance planning to ensure farmers do not face disruptions. Special attention is being given to fertilizer storage and distribution, alongside mechanisms for faster decision-making during the crisis period.
PM Modi further stressed the importance of curbing misinformation and ensuring that accurate information reaches the public. He urged states to actively counter rumours and maintain public confidence during the global uncertainty.
State governments reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with the Centre, assuring that adequate supplies of petrol, diesel, and LPG are currently available across regions.
