A dispute broke out in Tedi village of Ajnala after a young man and a woman reportedly married without the consent of their families, leading to allegations of vandalism and property damage.
According to reports, the girl’s family allegedly entered the boy’s house in anger and carried out extensive vandalism. The victim’s family claimed that the couple had married willingly, but the girl’s relatives reacted aggressively and damaged household belongings.
The affected family alleged that valuables worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed during the incident. They also claimed that pigeons kept inside the house were killed during the alleged attack.
Demanding justice, the victim’s family appealed to the police administration to take strict legal action against those responsible and ensure swift action in the matter.
Meanwhile, a member of the girl’s family, identified as Hira Singh, denied all allegations. He stated that their daughter had eloped with the boy and that the family was busy conducting another daughter’s wedding at the time of the incident. He termed the accusations as false and baseless.
Police officials confirmed that the matter has been brought to their notice and an investigation has been initiated. Authorities stated that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.
