Global crude oil prices have once again witnessed a sharp rise, impacting fuel pricing trends across India. Despite repeated assurances from authorities regarding adequate fuel availability, long queues are being reported at petrol pumps in several regions of the country.
Amid this backdrop, government oil companies on Friday revised retail prices of petrol and diesel in multiple cities. The price adjustments have affected a wide geographical belt stretching from Punjab to Bihar, although fuel rates remained unchanged in four major metropolitan cities, including Delhi and Mumbai.
According to state-owned oil companies, petrol prices in Punjab have decreased slightly by 2 paise to ₹98.29 per litre, while diesel prices fell by 1 paise to ₹88.11 per litre.
In Noida, petrol became costlier by 5 paise and is now retailing at ₹94.90 per litre, while diesel prices increased by 3 paise to ₹87.81 per litre.
Meanwhile, in Patna, the capital of Bihar, petrol prices dropped by 31 paise to ₹105.23 per litre. Diesel prices also declined by 29 paise and are now being sold at ₹91.49 per litre.
On the global front, crude oil prices have surged significantly over the past 24 hours. Brent crude rose sharply to around $107 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude climbed to approximately $93.65 per barrel, indicating continued volatility in international energy markets.
Market experts suggest that fluctuations in global crude oil prices remain a key factor influencing domestic fuel price revisions across India.
