Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit West Bengal on March 28, where he is expected to release a BJP chargesheet against the state government, highlighting alleged misgovernance under the Mamata Banerjee administration. Party sources said the document will be a key campaign tool, with BJP planning a door-to-door drive across the state to amplify its allegations.
Election Strategy and Manifesto
The BJP is also likely to release its election manifesto in the first week of April. According to sources, the chargesheet is part of a broader strategy to showcase governance failures in West Bengal and strengthen the party’s election messaging.
An extensive review of all 294 Assembly constituencies, including a detailed SWOT analysis, has been conducted by BJP leaders. Senior party leaders expressed confidence in improving performance compared to the previous Assembly elections, particularly aiming to increase their tally in North Bengal. One senior leader described the election as a contest between “fear and trust.”
Phased Campaign Approach
Over the next two weeks, the party’s focus will remain on releasing the chargesheet and ensuring it reaches households at the grassroots level. This will be followed by the rollout of the BJP manifesto, aimed at positioning the party as a credible alternative to the incumbent government. Party insiders believe that anti-incumbency sentiment could play a key role in the upcoming polls.
Nitin Nabin’s West Bengal Visit
Meanwhile, BJP National President Nitin Nabin is on a two-day visit to West Bengal to strengthen the party’s organizational structure. During his visit, he offered prayers at Dakshineswar Kali Temple and paid tribute to Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Sarada Devi.
Nabin also chaired strategic meetings with state leaders and representatives of various frontal organisations, focusing on booth-level management, grassroots outreach, and key electoral issues such as governance, development, women’s safety, employment, and implementation of central welfare schemes.
The BJP’s coordinated strategy ahead of the Assembly elections demonstrates the party’s focus on organizational discipline and targeted voter outreach.
