The Punjab School Education Department has announced the results of the typing test conducted for clerks appointed on compassionate grounds, revealing highly disappointing and surprising outcomes that have raised serious concerns about employee efficiency.
The examination, organized by the Punjab Language Department in February 2026, saw a total of 63 candidates appear for the typing proficiency test. However, only two candidates successfully cleared both Punjabi and English typing tests, paving the way for confirmation of their jobs.
One candidate achieved partial success by passing the English typing test but failed to qualify in the Punjabi typing test conducted in the mandatory Raavi font.
The most alarming aspect of the results was the high number of absentees. Out of 63 candidates, as many as 40 did not appear for the examination. Departmental sources stated that despite multiple opportunities being provided, such absenteeism is negatively impacting administrative functioning.
Among the remaining candidates, 20 failed to clear the test, with most unable to meet the required standards in Punjabi typing using the Raavi font.
The department has announced that a re-typing test will be conducted in June 2026, offering a final opportunity to candidates who either failed or remained absent. Interested candidates must submit their names through their respective District Education Officers (DEOs) by April 15, 2026.
Officials clarified that applications for the upcoming test will be accepted strictly in Raavi font to ensure compliance with prescribed standards.
