The death case of Gagandeep Singh Randhawa has intensified political tensions in Punjab, with Punjab Congress President Amrinder Singh Raja Warring raising serious concerns over a proposed CBI investigation and demanding a probe under the supervision of a sitting High Court judge.
Raja Warring questioned the credibility of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), stating that the agency’s reliability has declined in recent years and several investigations have failed to deliver expected outcomes. He emphasized that transparency and impartiality are essential in such a sensitive case.
He further said that even if the victim’s family demands a CBI inquiry, the investigation should be conducted under the direct supervision of a High Court judge to ensure fairness and to prevent any form of political pressure.
Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, Raja Warring said they had lost a promising son, husband, and father, and ensuring justice must remain the top priority.
The statement has triggered fresh political debate, with the Congress party questioning both state and central investigative agencies while strongly advocating for a judicially monitored probe to guarantee justice in the case.
