Himachal Signs MoU with HUDCO to Develop Three New Satellite Cities

Himachal to Develop 3 Satellite Cities with HUDCO

The Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development Authority (HIMUDA) and Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO) on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the development of three new satellite cities in the state. The agreement was signed in the presence of Town and Country Planning Minister Rajesh Dharmani.

Under the MoU, three major urban projects — Him Chandigarh, Him Panchkula, and Kangra Valley Aerocity — will be developed as planned satellite cities aimed at promoting sustainable urban growth.

The MoU was signed by HIMUDA Chief Executive Officer and Secretary Dr. Surendra Kumar Vashisht on behalf of HIMUDA and Regional Head Neeraj Sethi representing HUDCO.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Rajesh Dharmani stated that the projects would become milestones in promoting planned urbanisation while giving top priority to environmental conservation. He said the satellite cities would be designed keeping future urban requirements in mind.

The minister emphasized that the initiative aims to encourage balanced regional development and reduce increasing urban pressure across the state. The upcoming urban centres will be developed as sustainable and future-ready cities through systematic planning.

He further said that the projects align with Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s vision of planned urban development in Himachal Pradesh. The initiative is expected to generate new economic opportunities and create both direct and indirect employment for residents while giving the state a new developmental identity.

HIMUDA Vice Chairman Yashwant Chhajta, along with senior officials from HIMUDA and HUDCO, were also present during the signing ceremony.
