Vande Bharat Express to Halt at Gurdaspur, Boosting Connectivity in Punjab

In a major boost for railway connectivity in Punjab, the Central Government has announced a new stoppage for the Vande Bharat Express at Gurdaspur railway station. The semi-high-speed train operating between Shri Amritsar Sahib and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (Train No. 26405/26406) will now halt at Gurdaspur, enhancing travel convenience for passengers in the region.

The development was shared by Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu through a post on his official Facebook account. The announcement is expected to significantly improve transportation access for residents of border districts and strengthen regional connectivity.

Welcoming the decision, Ravneet Singh Bittu expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for approving the new stoppage. He stated that the move reflects the Central Government’s clear vision of empowering border districts and strengthening infrastructure in frontier regions.

The addition of Gurdaspur as a stoppage is expected to benefit daily commuters, pilgrims traveling to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, and tourists visiting Punjab’s religious destinations. Local residents and business communities have welcomed the decision, calling it a major step toward regional development and improved mobility.

Officials believe the new halt will not only enhance passenger convenience but also contribute to economic activity by improving accessibility to key destinations across Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir.
