Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is setting new benchmarks of development across multiple sectors, moving the state towards the vision of a prosperous “Rangla Punjab,” said Gurpartap Singh Sandhu, Chairman of the District Planning Committee Amritsar and Aam Aadmi Party’s rural district president.
Speaking about the government’s initiatives, Sandhu stated that people-centric and development-oriented schemes introduced by the state government are significantly improving the quality of life of citizens. He emphasized that youth in Punjab are being provided government jobs purely on merit while also being encouraged to start self-employment ventures.
Highlighting a major healthcare reform, Sandhu said the Punjab Government has launched the Chief Minister Health Scheme, aimed at providing cashless medical treatment worth up to ₹10 lakh to all 65 lakh families in the state. Income criteria have been removed under the scheme, and government employees as well as pensioners have also been included as beneficiaries.
He added that Punjab has become the first state in the country to offer free healthcare access to all citizens, with 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics delivering free medical treatment daily across the state.
Discussing power sector reforms, Sandhu noted that since the Aam Aadmi Party government assumed office in 2022, nearly 90 percent of households in Punjab have been receiving free electricity. For the first time in the state’s history, farmers are being provided uninterrupted electricity supply exceeding eight hours during the paddy season, with daytime power availability ensuring greater convenience for agricultural activities.
Addressing the issue of drug abuse, Sandhu said the state government has launched an extensive anti-drug campaign titled “War Against Drugs,” describing it as the largest crackdown on narcotics networks in Punjab so far. He alleged that previous governments allowed drug networks to flourish, while the current administration has dismantled supply chains and jailed major offenders.
He further stated that, for the first time, illegally acquired properties of drug traffickers are being demolished or confiscated. With public participation, the campaign has now evolved into a people’s movement against drugs across the state.
