UP Govt Hikes Wheat MSP by ₹160, Cabinet Clears Projects

The Uttar Pradesh government, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, approved several major proposals during a cabinet meeting held at Lok Bhavan, including a significant increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for wheat, offering major relief to farmers.

A total of 35 proposals were cleared during the meeting, with the most important decision focused on the agriculture sector. The state government announced a ₹160 per quintal increase in wheat MSP compared to the previous year, aiming to strengthen farmers’ income and support agricultural growth.

Wheat Procurement Details

The wheat procurement season will run from March 30, 2026, to June 15, 2026. Procurement operations will be conducted through eight designated agencies, with approximately 6,500 procurement centers set up across all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh.

The procurement process will be carried out through agencies including FCI, UP Mandi Parishad, PCF, PCU, UPSS, NAFED, and NCCF, ensuring smooth purchase operations for farmers across the state.

Major Infrastructure Announcement in Lucknow

The cabinet also approved the construction of a convention hall in Lucknow as part of the International Exhibition Centre project. The facility will be developed at a cost of ₹1,435 crore and will have a seating capacity of 10,000 people, boosting the city’s infrastructure and event-hosting capabilities.

Logistics Hub for Sambhal

In another major decision, the government approved the establishment of an Integrated Manufacturing and Logistics Centre in Sambhal district. Additionally, under the Uttar Pradesh Multi-Modal Logistics Park Policy 2024, a proposal related to the tender process for logistics warehouses in Greater Noida received cabinet approval.

‘Navyug Palika Yojana’ Approved

The cabinet also cleared the “Navyug Palika Yojana,” a scheme announced in the state budget aimed at transforming municipalities located at district headquarters into smart municipalities.

The scheme will be implemented in 58 district headquarters, excluding the 17 municipal corporations across the state, with the objective of improving urban infrastructure, governance, and civic services.

The decisions taken during the cabinet meeting reflect the government’s dual focus on farmer welfare and large-scale infrastructure development, aiming to accelerate economic growth and modernization across Uttar Pradesh.
