A major development has emerged in the Amritsar District Magistrate (DM) suicide case, as Union Home Minister Amit Shah indicated that the investigation could be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Amit Shah stated that the Central Government is ready to hand over the case to the CBI if all Members of Parliament submit a written request seeking a central probe.
The issue was raised in Parliament by Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla, who demanded a thorough and transparent investigation into the matter. Following the discussion, the Home Minister assured the House that the government would act immediately once a formal written consensus from MPs is received.
Shah’s statement has intensified political attention around the case, with growing demands for an independent investigation to ensure transparency and accountability.
The possible transfer of the probe to the CBI is being seen as a significant step that could bring clarity to the circumstances surrounding the alleged suicide and address concerns raised by political leaders and the public.
Further developments are expected as political parties deliberate on submitting a joint written request to the Centre for a CBI investigation.
