SGPC to Celebrate 400th Foundation Day of Sri Kiratpur Sahib with Grand Religious Events

SGPC to Mark 400 Years of Sri Kiratpur Sahib

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) will celebrate the 400th foundation anniversary of Sri Kiratpur Sahib, established by the Sixth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, with traditional Sikh religious fervour and grandeur.

The three-day celebrations will be held from April 29 to May 1, 2026, at Gurdwara Sri Kiratpur Sahib, featuring large-scale Gurmat Samagams and spiritual gatherings. A sub-committee meeting, chaired by SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, was held to finalize the outline and arrangements for the historic celebrations.

Sharing details, Dhami said Sri Kiratpur Sahib holds immense religious significance as it was founded by Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji and later served as the residence of Sri Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji and Sri Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji. He added that the 400-year centenary would be celebrated on a grand scale with the participation of Sikh organizations and devotees worldwide.

The celebrations will begin on April 29 with the commencement of Sri Akhand Path Sahib followed by a night-long devotional Kirtan Darbar. Gurmat programs will continue on April 30, where renowned Sikh preachers, ragis, dhadi jathas, and poets will connect devotees with Sikh history and teachings.

The main centenary event will take place on May 1, 2026, with the participation of Singh Sahiban, Jathedars of Takht Sahibs, Sikh religious organizations, Nihang Singh groups, Kar Seva saints, and prominent personalities from across the Sikh Panth.

Special invitations will be sent to Sikh sects and prominent religious leaders. Amrit Sanchar ceremonies will also be organized during the celebrations. To inspire participation, SGPC’s Dharam Prachar Committee will conduct Gurmat programs in villages across the region.

Dhami appealed to devotees to attend the centenary celebrations along with their families and become part of this historic religious occasion.

Several SGPC members, committee officials, and administrative representatives were present during the meeting.
