As part of the reorganization of Gram Panchayat areas in Lahaul-Spiti district, two new Gram Sabhas have been formed. Deputy Commissioner Kiran Bhadana issued a notification stating that the Khangsar Gram Panchayat area of Lahaul block has been divided to create the Shooling Gram Sabha, while the reorganization of Tandi and Warpa areas has led to the formation of the Malang Gram Sabha.
The DC noted that following this reorganization, the delimitation of affected Gram Panchayats, Panchayat Samiti, and Zila Parishad wards is necessary, and the process has already been initiated.
BDO Assigned Responsibility
Under the Himachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj (Election) Rules, 1994, the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Lahaul has been authorized to prepare and publish the delimitation of the relevant Gram Panchayats—Khangsar, Shooling, Tandi, Warpa, and Malang—as well as the Lahaul Panchayat Samiti election areas.
Final Publication by March 20
The DC has directed that the final publication of delimitation proposals be completed on or before March 20, 2026, to ensure the timely conduct of upcoming elections.
