The 4th Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) successfully conducted a large-scale, coordinated mobilization drill across multiple districts of Himachal Pradesh today. The exercise aimed to strengthen rapid response capabilities during disasters, ensure readiness of resources, and test inter-agency coordination in real-time conditions.
The drill was conducted simultaneously at four key locations: Pong Dam, Kangra; GSSS Auhar, Bilaspur; Gaushala Ground, Jogon, Solan; and Helipad, Jhakri, Rampur (Shimla). A total of 18 NDRF teams participated actively, carrying out realistic exercises covering FWR, CSSR, and CBRN response scenarios. Civil administration, DDMA, SDRF, fire services, Home Guards, Disaster Mitras, police, and medical teams also contributed through coordinated participation at all sites.
The exercise tested the robustness of communication systems, effective establishment of staging areas, functionality of equipment, and inter-agency coordination. Participating agencies shared critical information, resources, and operational insights, ensuring practical synergy in disaster response management.
The drill was overseen and guided by Shri Praveen Kumar Tiwari, Commandant, 14th NDRF, whose leadership, extensive experience, and guidance played a pivotal role in the success of the exercise.
This mobilization drill not only demonstrates improved coordination between agencies but also represents a significant step toward ensuring rapid, effective, and organized disaster response in Himachal Pradesh.
