Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Barwa today directed strict monitoring of the quality of food grains at Public Distribution System (PDS) ration shops and regular inspections by the Food Supply Department.
Chairing a review meeting of the Public Distribution Committee, the DC emphasized that ration shops must provide food items on time to ensure consumers do not face any inconvenience.
The DC instructed officials to regularly check shops for polythene use and ensure that any violations are acted upon according to regulations. He also stressed that price lists must be displayed at all shops and the Food Supply Department should monitor compliance regularly.
Regarding LPG distribution, the DC stated that 37 gas agencies in the district serve a total of 578,731 registered LPG consumers. A detailed route chart has been issued for timely cylinder delivery, and all agencies have been directed to follow it. Vehicles used for cylinder delivery must be equipped with measuring instruments and loudspeakers, allowing the department to monitor distribution and keep consumers informed.
The Public Distribution Committee also discussed allocating fair-price shops at various locations and directed that self-help groups be given priority for such shop allocations.
Earlier, District Food Controller Purushottam Singh welcomed the chief guest and briefed the committee on various achievements under the PDS system.
