Himachal Pradesh: Nandita Gupta, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Himachal Pradesh, today inspected the first-level checking process of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in Mandi. The procedure was successfully conducted at the district EVM storage warehouse in Bhuli, in the presence of Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Apoorv Devgan.
The inspection was carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, ensuring full transparency and adherence to established standards.
During her visit, CEO Nandita Gupta instructed officials to conduct the EVM checking process with utmost seriousness, transparency, and within the scheduled timeframe. She emphasized that maintaining transparency in the election process is of highest priority, and no negligence will be tolerated.
The CEO also reviewed the machine inspection procedures, security protocols, and record maintenance, expressing satisfaction with the arrangements.
Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan highlighted that regular and scientific inspection of EVMs is crucial for maintaining the fairness, transparency, and reliability of elections. He added that the First-Level Checking (FLC) process ensures all machines are technically sound, secure, and fully prepared for upcoming elections.
Present at the inspection were Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Gursimar Singh, Tehsildar (Election) Rajesh Sharma, and representatives from recognized political parties, including Sanjay Sharma from the Indian National Congress and Advocate Karanveer Singh from the Bharatiya Janata Party, who observed the entire process.
