In a major development linked to a high-value drug seizure case, police in Shimla have suspended four police personnel associated with the CID’s Special Task Force (STF) following investigations into an LSD trafficking case worth nearly ₹1 crore.
Earlier, Shimla district police had arrested a young man and a woman after recovering Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD), a powerful synthetic psychedelic drug, during an anti-narcotics operation. The case has now taken a serious turn after the suspected involvement of law enforcement officials came under scrutiny.
The suspended officers were posted under the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and were part of the Special Task Force established to curb drug trafficking in Himachal Pradesh. The action includes two head constables and two constables whose roles are currently being investigated.
Authorities have stated that the exact nature of the officers’ involvement remains unclear at this stage. Separate and detailed investigations are being conducted by both Shimla Police and the CID to uncover the full extent of the network.
Preliminary findings suggest that the accused arrested with the narcotics were planning to deliver the consignment to Kullu, a region where such substances are reportedly circulated during rave parties and illegal gatherings.
Officials reiterated that strict action will be taken against anyone found aiding drug trafficking, regardless of their position, as authorities intensify efforts to dismantle organized narcotics networks operating in the state.
