Jai Ram Thakur Accuses Himachal CM of Misleading House, To Move Privilege Motion

Jai Ram Thakur to Move Privilege Motion Against CM

Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur has levelled serious allegations against the state’s Chief Minister ahead of the second phase of the ongoing Budget Session in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly.

Speaking in Shimla, Thakur stated that he would meet the Assembly Speaker and submit a notice for a Privilege Motion under Rule 75, accusing the Chief Minister of allegedly misleading the House. He claimed that the dignity and decorum of the Assembly had been compromised due to repeated statements made by the Chief Minister.

Thakur said that while certain statements made during the first year of the government could have been considered accidental errors, the situation has now worsened in the fourth session. According to him, the Chief Minister has been “continuously making false statements” inside the Assembly.

The Leader of Opposition further added that only one Budget Session remains before the end of the current legislative cycle, making it necessary to raise the issue formally under Assembly rules. He emphasized that the matter would be pursued through constitutional and procedural channels within the House.

The development is expected to intensify political confrontation during the ongoing Budget Session, with both ruling and opposition parties likely to engage in sharp debates over the allegations.
