New Delhi: A crucial meeting of the Union Cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Parliament House, where several important policy proposals related to industrial development, energy, foreign funding, and agriculture were discussed.
According to sources, the Cabinet deliberated on multiple strategic decisions aimed at strengthening India’s economic growth and accelerating development across key sectors.
One of the major proposals expected to receive approval is the Bharat Industrial Development (BHAVYA) Scheme, designed to promote domestic manufacturing and industrial investment. The initiative is seen as a significant step toward strengthening the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan vision by boosting self-reliance and expanding India’s industrial base.
The proposed scheme is likely to focus on infrastructure development, logistics improvements, and technology upgrades. It may also include measures such as easier access to credit, tax incentives, and policy support for industries. Experts believe the initiative could complement existing programs like Make in India by encouraging domestic production and enhancing export capabilities.
The BHAVYA scheme aims to strengthen industrial infrastructure, develop new industrial clusters, and empower Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Through this initiative, the government seeks to increase production capacity, generate employment opportunities, and reduce dependence on imports.
Experts suggest that if approved, the scheme could mark a significant step toward transforming India into a global manufacturing hub, though its long-term impact will depend on implementation and execution.
The Cabinet also discussed possible amendments to foreign funding regulations. A decision may be taken on the proposed Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment (FCRA) Bill 2026, which is intended to further strengthen monitoring mechanisms related to foreign donations.
In the energy sector, the Cabinet is expected to consider approval for a Small Hydropower Development Plan covering the period from 2026–27 to 2030–31. The proposal aims to promote small hydropower projects and expand clean energy generation across the country.
Additionally, an important decision related to the agriculture sector is likely to be taken. The government may approve a financial package to compensate losses incurred during cotton procurement operations, with the objective of protecting farmers’ interests and stabilizing procurement mechanisms.
Several other policy agreements were also discussed during the meeting, and official announcements are expected to follow after the Cabinet’s formal approval process.
