Amritsar, March 18: After the revocation of their suspension from the Lok Sabha, Member of Parliament Gurjeet Singh Aujla, along with other MPs, paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by bowing before his statue at Parliament before entering the House on Tuesday.
Punjab Congress President Raja Warring and several other Members of Parliament were also present during the tribute ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla delivered a strong message on democracy, stating that India’s democracy becomes strongest when voices are heard rather than suppressed.
Quoting Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy, Aujla said that truth and non-violence are as ancient as the mountains and continue to guide democratic values in the country.
He further emphasized that the MPs remain firmly committed to protecting democratic principles, the Constitution, and the voice of the people. He clarified that their struggle is not against any individual but aimed at strengthening democracy in India.
Aujla added that they will continue raising public issues on every platform to ensure that citizens’ voices are represented in Parliament.
The development comes after the restoration of parliamentary participation for the suspended MPs, marking their return to legislative proceedings.
