Indian Red Cross Society Hosts Seminar on Elder Respect in Amritsar Under Govt Campaign

Amritsar Seminar Promotes Respect for Elders

Under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Dalwinderjit Singh (IAS), an awareness and education seminar was organized in Amritsar as part of the Punjab Government’s campaign “Sadde Bazurg, Sadda Maan” (Our Elders, Our Pride). The event was conducted by the Indian Red Cross Society.

The seminar witnessed participation from representatives of various NGOs, Red Cross volunteers, and youth clubs. Dr. Rupinder Pal Singh (PCS), Additional Deputy Commissioner, attended the event as the chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Rupinder Pal Singh emphasized that a good family is one where elders are respected. He added that honoring senior citizens is essential for building a healthy and progressive society.

Event organizer Samson Masih, Executive Secretary of Red Cross, welcomed the chief guest and participants. He stated that under the guidance of the Deputy Commissioner, more awareness and educational programs will be conducted to sensitize all sections of society about the importance of respecting elders.

Several speakers, including Dr. Harkiranjit Kaur, Assistant Professor (Law), Shri Sharma, Deepak Babbar, Baba Chahal, Bikramjit Singh, and Jagjit Singh, shared their views during the seminar.

On the occasion, 85-year-old Red Cross volunteer Jaswant Singh was specially honored for his contribution. Other attendees included Vinod Kumar, Shashpal Singh, Gurpreet Kaur, Neha, Mukul, Yusuf Masih, and Palwinder Singh.

The seminar highlighted the need for collective efforts to ensure dignity, care, and respect for the elderly in society.
