Guru Har Rai Ji Gurta Gaddi Day Marked as Environment Day

The Gurta Gaddi Day of Guru Har Rai Ji was observed as Environment Day by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. The main religious ceremony was held at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall, associated with Sri Harmandir Sahib.

On this occasion, the Bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib was performed. The Hazoori Ragi Jatha led by Bhai Balwinder Singh recited Gurbani Kirtan, while the Ardas was performed by Bhai Baljeet Singh. The holy Hukamnama was read out by Giani Baljeet Singh, Granthi Singh Sahib of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib.

Addressing the Sangat, Giani Baljeet Singh highlighted the life and teachings of Guru Har Rai Ji. He said that the seventh Sikh Guru promoted environmental conservation by planting gardens at Kiratpur Sahib and spreading awareness about protecting nature.

The SGPC has been observing this day as Environment Day every year to inspire devotees to plant more trees and follow the teachings of the Guru. Devotees were also extended greetings on the occasion and encouraged to actively participate in environmental protection efforts.

As part of the celebrations, tree plantation drives were carried out in Guru Ka Bagh, located between Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall and Langar Sri Guru Ramdas Ji. Senior officials, including Giani Baljeet Singh and Manager Bhagwant Singh Dhangera, planted saplings as a mark of respect and devotion.

Several officials of Sri Harmandir Sahib, including Manager Narendra Singh Mathrewal and others, were present during the event.
