Anmol Gagan Maan Husband Among 3 Convicted, Gets 2-Year Jail in Cheque Bounce Case

AAP MLA Anmol Gagan Maan Husband Gets 2-Year Jail

In a major development linked to Punjab politics, a court in Dera Bassi has sentenced three individuals, including the husband of AAP MLA Anmol Gagan Maan, to two years of imprisonment in a cheque bounce case.

The convicted include Shahbaz Singh Sohi, husband of the MLA, along with Jatinder Singh Noni and Nachhattar Singh. The court also imposed a fine of ₹10,000 each on all three accused.

The case dates back nearly seven years and is related to a real estate deal involving a company named ‘Messrs Platinum Smart Buildcon’. The accused had allegedly sold plots worth crores for a housing project in Rajpura. However, the deal failed to materialize over time, and cheques worth ₹3.5 crore issued to investors as refunds were dishonoured.

Following the cheque bounce, the matter reached the court, and after prolonged hearings, the judgment has now been delivered. Soon after the verdict, all three accused secured bail at the spot, avoiding immediate custody.

The case has once again raised concerns over fraud and financial disputes in the real estate sector. While the verdict has brought some relief to the affected investors, it has also sparked political discussions in the state.

Legal experts believe the case may see further proceedings as the accused could challenge the verdict in higher courts.
