Middle East Tensions Push Flight Costs Up, Impact Punjab Students Traveling Abroad

Middle East Tensions Raise Flight Costs for Students

Rising tensions in the Middle East are now impacting not just global politics and security, but also students from Punjab and their families. The ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel has significantly disrupted international air travel, affecting students planning to travel to Canada and the United States.

Experts say that the closure of airspace in several Gulf countries has forced airlines to reroute flights. Earlier, a one-way ticket to Canada or the US cost around ₹70,000 to ₹80,000, but prices have now surged to ₹2.5 lakh to ₹3 lakh. This sharp increase has become a major concern for students and their parents.

Reports indicate that around 46,000 flights have been affected so far due to escalating tensions in the region. Airlines are now diverting flights through European routes, which has increased both travel time and operational costs.

Immigration expert Bikram Jhabbal stated that the impact of the conflict is clearly visible on global travel. He noted that airlines are being forced to adopt longer routes, resulting in extended travel durations and significantly higher ticket prices.

The situation continues to create uncertainty for students planning to study abroad, especially those with upcoming academic sessions in North America.
