The tribal district of Lahaul-Spiti has once again been blanketed in fresh snow, as changing weather conditions brought renewed snowfall across the valley in March.
While plains across the country are already experiencing rising temperatures, the mountainous region continues to witness winter-like conditions. Intermittent rain and snowfall have been recorded in the district, with higher mountain ranges and peaks receiving fresh layers of snow.
The sudden change in weather has led to a noticeable drop in temperature, forcing residents to return to warm clothing. The scenic beauty of the region has been further enhanced, as the snow-covered landscapes present a mesmerizing and rare sight for this time of year.
According to reports, Baralacha Pass received around one foot of fresh snowfall, while Shinkula Pass recorded nearly nine inches of snow.
Amid worsening weather conditions, the district administration has issued advisories and remains on high alert. Deputy Commissioner Kiran Bhadana has urged residents and travelers to exercise caution and stay safe during the ongoing weather fluctuations.
The unusual snowfall in March has not only surprised locals but also highlighted the unpredictable patterns of weather in the Himalayan region.
