Under Operation KASO, a special anti-drug and anti-crime drive, police today conducted searches at various paying guest accommodations and hotels in different phases of Mohali. The campaign aims to curb suspicious elements and drug-related activities, particularly ahead of New Year 2026 when miscreants and peddlers often try to exploit the festive atmosphere.
During the operation, police checked identities of residents and questioned several individuals staying in these premises. In the Mataur area, a few youths were taken to the police station for detailed questioning, and their antecedents are being verified.
DSP Prithvi Singh said the drive was launched to prevent anti-social elements from disturbing peace and to stop drug suppliers from targeting youngsters during New Year celebrations. He added that such checks will continue in the coming days to ensure a safe and secure environment for residents
