The historic two-day 69th Annual Sports Day of DAV College Amritsar commenced with great enthusiasm and grandeur at the college sports ground. MLA Dr Ajay Gupta graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The event was formally inaugurated by Dr Ajay Gupta and College Principal Dr Amardeep Gupta. Students presented an impressive march past marked by discipline and energy, captivating the audience. Cultural performances added vibrancy to the celebration and received loud applause.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Ajay Gupta emphasized that sports play a crucial role not only in physical development but also in shaping mental strength and character. He stated that sports instill discipline, teamwork, and leadership qualities among students. Calling the players the future of the nation, he appreciated the college administration’s efforts in promoting sports culture.
Principal Dr Amardeep Gupta highlighted that DAV College has always excelled in both academics and sports. He noted that the 69-year-old sports tradition reflects the institution’s rich legacy in nurturing talent. He extended his best wishes to all participants and encouraged them to uphold the true spirit of sportsmanship.
The event was attended by Honorary Treasurer Dr J.P. Shur, Advocate Sudarshan Kapoor, Vice Principal Prof. Pradeep Saini, Dr B.B. Yadav, Prof. Vikas Bhardwaj, Staff Secretary Dr Neeraj Gupta, Prof. Sandeep Kumar, and other faculty members.
Various athletic events and sports demonstrations will be held over the two-day celebration. The closing ceremony will take place tomorrow, where winners will be honored with prizes.
