Amritsar Bypass Accident Tipper Overturns

A major road accident occurred on Wednesday around noon near the Western Villa Bypass in Amritsar after a sand-laden tipper lost control and overturned, causing heavy damage to three nearby cars.

According to ADCP Madam Amandeep Kaur, police received information around 12 PM that the tipper had mounted the road divider near the bypass and overturned after losing balance. The impact severely damaged three cars that were either parked nearby or passing through the area.

The injured were immediately rushed to Sri Guru Nanak Dev Hospital via ambulances, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Officials confirmed that no fatalities have been reported so far. Details regarding the exact number of injured persons and their medical condition will be shared after proper verification.

Police officials stated that the tipper driver fled the scene after the accident, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest him. Authorities are also examining the vehicle’s documents, mechanical condition, and the exact cause of the accident.

SHO and police teams remained present at the spot, with the immediate priority being the clearance of the road to restore normal traffic movement.

The ADCP further mentioned that due to the ongoing fair at Anandpur Sahib, traffic movement on highways has significantly increased. Managing congestion and ensuring public safety remain the top priorities for the police amid heavy vehicular flow.

Further updates are awaited from hospital authorities and the ongoing police investigation.
